I have been customer of RingCentral for almost two years now.
Even they have little glitches here and there I've been able to bear with them until now.
They provide PBX hosted and VoIP for small business. I have a booking agency that sales bus tickets and ground transportation services in Florida. I have my 5 phone numbers hosted with RingCentral. These phone number are posted in not less than 15 websites. Back in April I ported my cell phone number to their server as a temporary solution until I could convert said phone number into my land line, since I got for few years and it was my main contact number.
When I finally ported my number out of their system to my local phone company, RingCentral missed to delete my number from their database. For this reason showed available for new customers and they sold it to a new company. Shortly after I started receiving phone calls for this "unknown company". I replied it was a "wrong number" until finally the new owner of my phone number explained to me that this number was assigned to him by RingCentral. I've called them immediately to fix this situation. They said they would take care of it and just suddenly the phone calls for this other business, stopped. I thought the situation was really under control and assumed that they gave solution to this "glitch" of providing my number to someone else. My advertised phone numbers are ALL forwarded and directed to this land line phone to make it more reliable. I need to be contacted at all the times if a customer calls. I've noticed a decrease in the phone call volume and I thought the financial situation was affecting my business. But checking the monitoring system in my websites I saw them very active.
In order to make this work I started a marketing campaign, I reduced my prices, and I even invested in a new automatic integrated reservation system. I did all in my power to get my sales volume, but nothing seemed to work. A little over three months passed by and I literally had no income. The few sales I made were previously arranged by email. I practically decided to shut the business down because I got into debt. Sales went from about 15k monthly to nothing. At the end of August I've dealt with a customer to send me a check by mail for contracted services. She sent the check to us. Once we've received it and posted, she emailed us saying that: "As she sent the check and called countless times to verify it arrived, and the phone calls were answered by a consulting agency, she thought this was another scam company and she placed the stop payment to that check". I argue with her because at the moment I was so eager to have ANY income, that I was by the phone all the time awaiting for someone to contract our services, and I know by fact her phone call couldn't have slipped from me. I thought that she was just trying to get away with this, probably she found someone cheaper and she was just giving excuses. But a week later a recurrent customer of mine contacts me DIRECTLY to my cell phone and she states that she has been calling for the last couple of weeks without being able to contact us. She said that just that day a phone call was answered by a consulting agency. This consulting agency told my client that they receive a minimum of 50 or 60 phone calls a day from people who wants to book bus services. I placed few tests here and there and checked the configuration of the phone forwarding. Everything seemed to be ok and properly set up. So I did what was left to do I check each phone number to make sure it was being directed and receiving phone calls. My surprise was HUGE, when I called my land line directly and I heard a RingCentral virtual attendant. This phone was not hosted by them, so technically it was impossible to have these features. The extensions were unresponsive so I waited to the following day to actually call my number and wait for an answer. I did. The following morning I called and I spoke to the person who had my phone number for the last four months. He admitted and confirmed that effectively RingCentral assigned this phone number to his business and indeed he received at least 40 calls daily to book bus tickets. I called RingCentral and after they checked everything, they realized that this business had my phone number for the last few months and yet, they missed to delete it from their database and re-sold it. In the mean time all my business calls were being re-directed to this number and this is the reason why I did not have any incoming calls, any reservations, any income, any business at all. RingCentral recognizes that effectively messed up, but they have offered me an offensively insignificant amount as compensation for damage. I would GREATLY appreciate intervention and if there is any civil attorney in California who wishes to represent me in court, please feel free to contact me for details. I estimate my loss in approximately $ 60.000,00 (sixty thousand), I requested $50,000.00 and they offered me only four thousands. I will not settle for an amount that I can make in one week. I've paid every month worth of service. And I've learned the lesson that they are not reliable. But overall they have made my business go down the hill. Other than no having income, we've lost credibility since many people thought this was an scam company and I've lost quite few thousands in reimbursements I've had to face because customers who have already contracted the services were not able to reach us for meeting arrangements. I truly believe they're scam and I would like to know if they're regulated by any other entity to file the complaints. Hope someone there can help me. Thanks
