Ronald Pino disfigured from lower body and thigh lift. San Jose, Other
14th of Nov, 2011 by User526751
Things went from bad to worse for me with this surgeon. Dr Pino did a lower body lift and thigh lift on me. I initially had problems with the incisions staying together, and ended up seeing another plastic surgeon, and spending 4 months immobile to let the grand canyon that went around the from of my hip, underneath by my groin, to my butt cheek slowly close, since no incision would stay closed. I also had a deep tissue infection that was aggressive and resistant to most antibiotics, that required a weeks hospitalization with IV antibiotics. It may or may not be related, but this is where the heart arrhythmia started. I was on several medications, and it comes and goes, so hopefully I won't get to keep that as a reminder. I'll healthy otherwise, and yoga and snowboarding are my only vices, so I doubt my lifestyle had anything to do with the heart issues. The infection however, keeps recurring, and the new surgeon suspects something is possibly left inside that is causing it to keep recurring. Pino had me send pictures via email, but kept saying things were fine, until my pcp saw the infection, and that it was spreading by the hour, and said it was life threatening, and they agreed at the hospital. Hence the stay. That was bad enough, but I was left with bad scarring, and very disfigured results, and while Pino initially agreed that revisions were needed, he said I had to pay for things to be re-done, then cut off communication all together. All of this after making me wait over a year, to see if things improved. I had heard some stories about him prior, but actually talked to him about it, and naively trusted him. And yes, he openly discussed specific patients I had met, and their personal information. He blamed the problems on them for other health problems they had, which if that were the case, he shouldn't have done surgery if they were such ticking time bombs. I guess laws must be different about patient privacy in Costa Rica, because any doctor in the US that discussed personal information about a patient with other patients here would lose their license. So, I now have appointments to see 2 new plastic surgeons to see if they can fix the damage.
