Solar Charger, advertiser on tv customerstatus.com: Also/and - USPS on Irving Park & Southport, Chicago, Illinois Both the Solar Charger & USPS thinks
12th of Feb, 2013 by User397797
First I saw the ad on tv about the Solar Charger and was convinced that it was a good thing to have with all the attachments and for only $19.95, so I made the call on 12/18/2012 at approximately 4:38am. It was a buy 1 and get a second one free for just the shipping and handling, which was $13.90. So, now I'll have to do without something being on a fixed income because the total is now $33.85. I was told to expect to receive the solar charger between 3 & 5 weeks. Having mailed items before myself I knew that I had to wait until it was mailed in order to get a track-ing number. I could wait. In a few days what I got was a phone call from the same people by an aggressive sales woman, trying to sign me up for different things that would cost me more money I don't have. So, since it didn't seem like she was going to quit, I informed her that I'd just lost one of my little sisters and was still grieving and that I didn't want to be bothered - I kind of got the impression that I might be in for a problem the way she stated for me to watch out for my solar charger which would be mailed in a couple days. Long story short, they got the order date as 12/19/2012 and the shipping date as 12/20/12, the very next day when I was told between three and five weeks! So I found out when it was taking too long for the package to arrive and I call the 800 number I'd called to place the order and was told to call, I believe, customer service at 888-326-0978 which gave me a number and told me to go to www.customerstatus.com. I wrote down the two sets of numbers that may have been the tracking numbers as they had used DHL Global Mail and USPS locally. At this time I was told they not only couldn't find my package in their system, but they didn't use that type of number. So I went to the library found what I was looking for with the information I had and made copies on printouts. It said the package had been delivered by USPS on December 26, 2012 at 5:02pm. I called Solar charger and informed them that although the tracking said it had been delivered, it hadn't been given to me nor was it in my mailbox. I was told that they had sent it and there was nothing else for them to do. I go back to the Post Office on Irving Park & Southport and told them I hadn't received my package and was then told that the package had been scanned and the carrier had probably left it in the hall. I said there's a lobby but no hall so the Supervisor said they'd left it in the lobby then. That she make a note not to leave any items in the lobby for me! Had the people not told me to expect my package until 3-5 weeks and mailed it the next day, I could have been looking out for it. It's Christmas, they showed people packages being ripped off on tv. But with all the years experience the Post Office have, they would already know this. But what I was told by them, they might have well said, you're s**t out of luck. For what it's worth, I didn't record anyone's face, but I did capture the conversation I had with the Postal Supervisor with my digital camera as I was told to do by a neighbor.
