Found 2007 Ford Focus listed on Craigslist (PostingID: 2307682430). Emailed seller at . That's when Sgt John Ogrady emailed me to tell this touching story:

Hello, This 2007 Ford Focus SE with 20,943 miles, runs and drives excellent. This car has been extremely well maintained and it is fully paid. No accident, clear title, free of encumbrances and liens. I bought it when I was serving in Florida. I have dropped my price to $2900 (purchase price) since this is an urgent sale and I need to sell it before 12th April, when I will be deployed in Afghanistan with my platoon replacing the troops scheduled to come home.
I have decided to use eBay for this sale (recommended by craigslist). The car is already at our Military Logistic Department, U.S. Army, crated and ready to go. The Logistic Department will deliver the car to your home. I will offer a 5 days period to inspect the car from the moment you receive it, before I will have your money. The shipping will be free for you! If you agree with my price $2900, I need your FULL NAME AND ADDRESS, so I can inform eBay that I have a buyer! I will forward your details to them and then you will receive an invoice(with no further obligations or fees). Like this you'll be able to talk with them directly and ask all you want to know.

Sgt. John Ogrady The eBay "transaction manager", Thomas Liddle, emailed the secure payment instructions to me the following day. My first warning sign was in the salutation: Dear Volodumur Pahiwnuk. This is not my name! The rest of his email reads:
You are receiving this email because a seller (John Ogrady) has requested a payment from you. ************************************************************************************************
The complete transaction details have been attached to this email.
To view the attachment, you need Adobe`s Acrobat Reader software.
PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHMENT !!! ************************************************************************************************ Sincerely, eBay Team The attachment is in Adobe, and I don't have the skills to copy/paste it here. But it instructs me to go to Western Union and send cash. This was my 2nd warning that something was amiss. Ebay Motors lists tips on how to avoid scams. They state that requests by sellers for buyers to send cash via Western Union is a no-no. Searching for scams, I came accross this sight which reports other scams similar to this one:
1. Find great deal on good car on CraigsList
2. Seller does not live in same city (or state) you searched in CraigsList
2. Seller is in military & deploying to Afghanistan needs to sell vehicle...cheap
3. eBay Motors will handle sale. Just send cash through Western Union Fortunately I realized this was a scam before I sent money. My hope is to help others avoid sending their hard-earned money to some predator feeling no shame in impersonating one of our brave young soldiers who are honorably serving our country. My best to all you honest souls out there.
