Its Amazing what Chaudhary Asim Aftab aka Mike (perhaps) can do.

He was recommended by a friend of mine who's work Asim did few years back.

I paid him a deposit to do carpeting for both homes (old and new), with an initial deposit of $300 on 12/31/2010(ch #205) , then $2200 on 2/22/2011(ch #207). This was out of a total of $4754, (124 yards *$20/yard = $2504 for new house material and installation) and (120 yards * $19 = $2280 30 = $2250 for the old house material and installation) see Exhibit A). He said remaining payment after work is complete. The work for new home carpet installation was suppose to start Friday Feb 25th, 2011 and he calls me a day before saying ParagonMills(supplier of the carpet) will not deliver the carpet till Friday night.

He promised me he would come Saturday (2/26/2011) morning at 6:30 am and install it and give me 3 rooms by 10am. He did come at 6:30 dropped his tools and went to pickup his cousin(Ali) who helps him with this. He got Ali at 9:00 am who started to uninstall the existing carpet in the new home and told me that Paragon Mills has bundled both orders (new and old) into one and he needs to pay them for material and asked me to pay another $1100 for the old house carpet as the total material cost was $3600. As my move was scheduled for later that day, I had no choice but to pay him the full amount. Since I had packed my checkbook, lucky my brother was there and he wrote a check for $1100 (ch #484).

I asked him to bring me all material(old and new home) carpet to house , he showed up in a home depot rental van with only the new house carpet. I asked him where the carpet for the old house was, to which he replied that not all carpet would fit in the home depot rental van.

He completed the rooms by 7pm Saturday, left his tools at my house and left the stairs unfinished. The move which was happening in parallel was all messed up as the rooms were not ready. He was going to come Sunday to do the stairs to which I told him to come on Monday instead and finish the stairs as well as the carpeting the old house as scheduled.

I checked his work after he left and found it to be very unprofessional. The seams were not tight, the carpet in the closets were just stapled and no strips or paddings were put in place. I left him a message on Sunday but he never called.

He shows up with his cousin Ali on Monday (2/28/11), I asked him about my issues and he said this is how they do work and for past 18 years they have never put any strips or paddings in closets. He finishes the stairs, takes his tools and promised to show up at the old house within a hour ie around 1pm. I called him up at 2pm wondering where he was to which he said, that he cannot do my work as he does not like my attitude and he fears that I may not pay him the money once the work is complete.

He told me to call Sandra at Paragon Mills to pickup the material and arrange for installation. Since my old house was being rented the next day, Tuesday (3/1/2011), I had no choice but to call Paragon Mills, and pay for the materials as well as installation again. At first I thought atleast he showed me a way out, but I later realized that since the carpet was on his name, if I would not have picked up , he would be responsible for the payment to Paragon Mills.

I asked Sandra if she has heard similar complaints regarding Chaudhrary Asim Aftab and she said yes.

It was to my surprise that I found out that the material money which I had paid Asim on 2/25/2011 a total of $1100 was never paid to Paragon for the old house carpet. I had to pay $1000 for carpet, $114.82 for padding and $550 for installation to Paragon Mills, a total of $1664.82

After speaking to the Sales Manager at Paragon Mills Reid who has been very helpful, has also put R&A Flooring account on hold, has provided me with the copy of the invoice where the material cost was $2370 and the total yards were less than what I paid for (112 yards instead of 124 and 101 yards instead of 120) and Chaudhary Asim Aftab made a deposit of only $1400 dollars. (see attached invoice from Paragon Mills)

Had I gone with a ParagonMills installer I would have paid an additional of $550 per house in which case my total would come to $2370(material) + $1100(installation) = $3470 for both homes approximately.

This concludes that not only did Asim steal my money but he over charged me. The ask is

1) Return the $1100 which was paid for the old house carpeting as work was never done and money stolen.

I am willing to forgo the following

1) Fixing the unprofessional work he did with the carpet in the new house

2) The fact that I paid him for more material and less was delivered

3) The aggravation this has caused me and my family
