I recently purchased a used engine assembly I had found on-line. I read the description of
the engine that I needed. I had given the details of the type of engine I was looking for
and was told that the engine they had would work for the vehicle I was repairing. I
received the engine & found the be in very poor condition. We had found a chunk of
broken metal in the oil pick screen and the engine appeared to have been abused due to
excessive amount of oil sludge. We contacted the engine company and they sent me a
second engine of which this letter and our complaint stems from. I received the second
engine assembly and very quickly we discovered that there were signs of water in the
engine due to the discoloration and the water content in the engine oil. We drained engine
to clean out the water from engine. We transferred all the external components as was
required to reassemble the engine. Once the engine was reassembled we attempted to
start the engine and could not get the engine to start right away. We made several
attempts and finally were able to get the engine started. It was apparent immediately that
something was wrong when there was a loud clatter noise coming from the upper
section of the engine which sounds like valve lifter noise. We allowed the engine to idle
for a short period of time to see if the noise would go away. We tested the oil pressure
and it was within the proper specifications. We contacted the vendor were we purchased
the engine and We asked for some form of compensation now that the engine would have
to be removed once again and another engine to be installed. So that would make it the
3rd engine. The claims that were advertised on the vendors website states “All products are cleaned & tested to exceed our customer’s expectations”. I believed there statement and found it to be misleading. The warranty information was so vague until I received the invoice copy. I still believe this company does not do what it claims.
