Entrust calls offering to save money on credit card processing. They set up a 20 minute appointment
1st of May, 2010 by User791947
Entrust calls offering to save money on credit card processing. They set up a 20 minute appointment for a local representative to make their presentation. It is all very slick. It will take much longer than 20 minutes unless you do not ask any questions and just sign all the places that they request your signature on their 13 page contract. This contract commits you to a minimum $150 monthly fee for their service for the next 5 years. This fee is on top of the credit card charges, which they claim will be low enough to offset the fee. The representative made verbal promises that if they do not save the amount of money they projected for me, I could discontinue the contract. Also, that in certain hardship cases like close of business I would be released. However none of these provisions are in the contract. Parts of the printed contract are in such small type that it is illegible. I requested additional documentation of the "side agreements" he was mentioning and have never received them. Is this a valid company? Have others had either good or bad experience with them? Being asked to sign a contract that clearly states commitments and at the same time being told they will not apply smacks of a con.

We have been told by the sales rep that we were selected "VIP" Customers because our excellent credit rating. We also have been in business for more than 5 years. They gaurantee to cut our "overall" rate from 3% to 1.59%. They said we are the "Process Level" without going through the credit card carriers. That's why they can keep the rate so low. I also have been told that the company would provide us brand new credit card machines. It will be a monthly charge of $128.00. However, with lower rate, we still can save money !

Therefore, we signed the contract which indicate that the all rates was 1.59%. However, after I received our first month's statement, I were paying more than 3.2% rate plus $128.00 machine rental. I called the company, there was no response. However, I called the number from the credit card statement (which is First Data), I got the person who was in charge my account to answer. Now I know, entrust was acturally First Data which I have declined to use as credit card processor for years !

I was very upset about the scam. I told First Data that I signed a contract that printed with 1.59% rate. However, they told me the rate on the contract was changeable rate, it was not overall rate..in other words, the rate that showed on the contract did not mean anything ! However, as customers we were bind to the terms and the fees on the contract. I moved my account back to my old carrier even I have to risk to pay the penalty. However, I belive that First DATA will lost all their customers becuase of the dishonest practice. I will never consider to use First Data in the future no matter what.
