Landmark Dodge Used Lemon CAR Independence, Missouri
6th of Sep, 2011 by User603710
Landmark Dodge on the Miracle Mile in Independence, MO - I went to this auto dealership to look for a used car. Got some really "good" salesman-what a talker. Found a 2003 Buick Regal with 162,000 miles on it-yes, I know red flag. But my son and I had $5000 to spend and at this point we had not found anything. They came down to $5100. They showed me a carfax plus a mechanic sheet that "their" mechanic looked out and everything was great. Looked great inside and outside. So after three hours, we signed papers and again "yes" I signed an "as is" paper. DO NOT EVER DO THAT WITH ANYONE!! Well, after SIX DAYS we were driving it and it overheated and had to have it towed in to our mechanic, only to find out that it needed a new engine. SIX DAYS - not only that the ignition key will not come out most of the time. So it cost me almost $3000 to get an engine put in the car. I spoke with Rick Pringle, the manager, for a long time. Please "do the right thing" Oh, he would have bought the car back from me - but for hardly nothing because it didn't run-go figure. And if I took it to a place he wanted me to take it he would pay for half of the cost of the engine, because he could somehow put it on the books using other cars, so it didn't look like the cost was all going for my car. Well, this did not sound ethical to me so I did not do it. Now $8000 later I am driving a car that still needs work done it - obviously I was taken for a fool and played the role to a tee. Because I trust people, I would never do this to anyone. I would have stood behind my car after SIX days. I am a widow. My husband passed when he was 36 and left me with two boys to raise on my own. I have worked my butt off all these years and still live payday to payday and to come up with $5000 we scraped and saved and now I am out $8000 and in the hole. How could anyone do this to another person. My 22 year old got laid off from his job and his car he had broke down and was unrepairable. So we have saved and was able to pay cash for this and now he has this car with still a ignition problem I have to pay for when I get the money. I have yet to title it. I wish I would have got it on credit, because I would have just let it go back. But I did not want payments. When did companies stop standing behind their product, even if an "as is" clause is signed after six days. I am totally convinced they are probably all laughing their heads off at what a fool I was. I don't know how they live with theirselves because I could never do that to anyone. NEVER I just want people to know, Landmark Dodge to me would be the last place I would buy a car. I have taken many steps to get the word out. I have written and talked to many people including a tv station. I won't see a dime I am sure, but I hope this might stop someone else in trusting people and especially anyone at Landmark Dodge. It makes me sick inside to think I saved so hard for this money and the car did not even last a week. Not good business and not honest if you ask me.
