Longwood Inc Matt Carter Unsolicited phone calls offering to assist with selling my car. Got my info from craigslist ad. Nationwide

I placed an ad on craigslist to sell my car. Shortly afterwards, I got a voicemail from Matt Carter from Longwood Inc offering to assist with the sale of my car for a "small fee". I did not return the call. A couple of days later I got yet another voicemail from the same person with the same message asking to call back and that they wanted to help me sell my car for a fee. I again did not return the call. From what I understand, companies are NOT supposed to contact sellers on craigslist unless they are actually purchasing the item. I reported the calls and the company to the "do not call" registry.

Good for you. I have the exact same situation. I wonder how he got my phone number. I use cell only and did not put phone number in the advertisement on Craigs list. He left a message and all excitedly said "HI!!! Im so glad I found you!!". Well Mr. Carter...Im so glad I am tech savy and decided to google your company name and how fascinating that when I googled "longwood inc" the name Matt Carter is attached. Im wondering if I should notify Craigslist or BBB? It is amazing how many entries there are for just this company and the infamous "Matt Carter".

I placed an ad with Autotraders. That following day I received a message from Matt Carter on my voice mail stating verbatum the same "Hi I'm so glad I found you!!!" Blah, blah for a small fee...exactly word for word the same "sales pitch". I want to thank the previous May 19th consumer for the very important heads up!!! Beware everyone!!!

I too just placed an ad on craigslist to sell a car and received the exact same phone call by a person who identified himself as Matt Carter. I did put a phone number in the ad but did NOT check the box that others were allowed to solicit me just as he did. How is it that he is allowed to continue this? I will file complaints as well. Thanks for this website and information.
