I was checking something out online and I came across the chanel 4 news advertorial adn was impressed by the potential to have big savings on electronics and other gizmos. I clicked the link and was sent to the registration page. I wanted to first see bids in action like the ones on E-bay. I was under the impression that I was creating a general account just like almost every website on the internet where you create a simple user log on and and password. The need for a credit card is normal for online business such as auction sites and authorization is made with clear and precise verification of doing so is usually done instructions or a prompt. The problem begins with where they stated there is a $99 membership fee for 165 bids. but nowwhere on the same page I put my card info does it say that is what I am doing. The amount is on the page where you enter credit card info. It is on the left hand side about half way down the page smack in the middle of a sample auctions area. It is located in a completely unrelated webpage field. this in its own right is misleading. Usually what fee's, cost of services, or authorizations are organized with the BILLING section. I may have not been thorough enough to avoid being charged $99, but they clearly INTENDED to hide fees, authorizations and other such charges on their website. 2nd problem is the third party call center, I feel bad for these people. I worked in call centers for long time, some good some bad. These guys can't do anything for consumers. They are located in Alabama and they can only give a refund up to $50 and nothing else, that may not even last long. There was 1 rep who helped me a little and explained what he knew. He stated he had many calls like mine and feels bad and they are located somewhere in San Francisco. I suppose these customer service calls are regular and dreaded by the customer service rep's. I have asked my bank to stop the pending charge, approx 2 days. However my concern is them attempting a re-run of my card. I sent the required cancelllation and made the call to 877-908-1713. I have not spent a single bid and I have not attempted nor have I even gone to the bidding pages. I had this happen on Sunday 4/24/2011 @ 11:29am, I made a call to my bank @ 11:31am and to savebig.com @ 11:51am. So why is it I am having a hassle cancelling and having the charges stopped? To top it off its Easter!!!
