Date: 04/10/2011- 04/17/2011 Mr. Dickinson, My friends and I sailed with the Carnival Legend on the dates I listed above.
We boarded your beautiful ship, everything appeared Immaculate.
I was very impressed with this ship, it being my FIRST cruise experience, I was told what to expect from a 5 yr cruiser whom was my friend on board with me. We found our cabin easily, and all appeared to be in order. The four of my friends shared one cabin with four bunks, this was acceptable, the beds were very comfortable. The A.C. didn't seem to be working, we called guest services, and were told we would be assisted soon.
In a matter on 30 minutes, a tech person looked at the thermostat and stated "the light is flashing" it is working! The older gentlemans lack of english was making it hard to communicate that yes the light was flashing but no air was coming out.... We called again, the next day and again the same older gentleman came and stated that yes the light was flashing on the thermostat, I told him, I can see the light flashing but we can't feel any cool air! He shook his head as if to say he didn't understand, so I requested a fan, due to the room being hot, we also kept our cabin door open while we were in the cabin because it was cooler in the hall way. we never recieved a fan, however, day four we called about the A.C. and the same older gentleman finally got a ladder and checked the vent and determined a vent had been turned off, which he then opened, but still only a small amount of cool air came out. Now in the mean time, day two we recognized a horrible smell coming from our cabin, but could'nt figure out what it was, by day 3 that night our carpet was damp, it smelled of sewage, we called and were told someone would see about it.
Someone came down and checked but they couldnt determine what it was, by day four, our cabins right side, all along the right side was flooded, and the smell was atrocious! Nauseating, we called guest service, and they were sending someone Immediately, I then thought of my luggage under the cabin bunk where my clothes were being kept, it was also soaked, and my contents and gifts I had purchased were soaked, when personel showed up, they offered to lauder my clothes, and take care of the cabin. we requested aother cabin due to the smell and the floor being soaked, but they said they did not have a cabin available. My friend and I had an excursion planned that we had paid for, which we had to cancel due to cabin issues, which the staff wanted to charge us a 25% charge for canceling, due to the fault of carnival, after arguing this, they agreed to waive the fee...we finally disembarqed at a port and when we got back to our cabin, they was a utility fan, loud, blowing the carpets dry...the smell was horrendous, the staff repeated that it wasnt sewage, but I have never smelled water that smelled this way! Unfortuanately that fan stayed in our room for 2 days till the floor dried. I was compensated a whooping 23.00, for all of my trouble with these issues! I am very disapointed and not satisfied with the way these issues were handled. The people we spoke with at Guest services were,"Linda", and Guest service Manager Clare McNicholas. Again, all we wanted was another cabin, and because they would not accomodate us, we had to smell sewage and walk on wet carpet, and my luggage was soaked with this nastiness. Not to mention saturday , the day before the cruise was finished, the toilets were all backed up with feces and urine...I took pictures of our cabin, with our infamous utility fans, and have tickets for the laundry that was done! Please Make this right! 23.00 dollars is not adequate! Our family we're planning to book a party of 30 plus for my 2 neices and nephews graduation, Being that the staff refused to accomadate us and make this right, at this point I would Not reccomend carnival at all. Regretfully,
